Is It Ok To Do Nothing?
Have you ever been taking a bit of a break, relaxing, and then all of a sudden your brain triggers a thought; You’re suddenly wondering, “is it ok to do nothing?”
The short answer? Yes!
Listen, our days these days are jam packed. We’re almost programmed to feel guilty if we take a break and just have a day to ourselves.
Well, as this article makes the case, doing nothing is doing something.
Doing Nothing Is Doing Something
If we’re being honest, society in general needs to take a chill pill. Why do we always have to be on the go? How come we feel guilty if we take time off?
We’re working ourselves to death.
The body needs rest. Our souls need down time.
By doing nothing, we are recharging our batteries. We’re taking time for ourselves and loved ones.
How much sense does it make to work all day every day? Sacrificing our time with our families and from things we enjoy.
Sometimes we need to catch up on life. To keep our sanity, we need to just disconnect.
I think it’s important to take “mental health days” off from work. No reason. Not a sick day. Not to take care of an important errand.
Just a day to yourself.
Choose rest. Nourish yourself. Don’t think about the outside stressors. Enjoy food. Listen to music.
Watch TV.
Just be.
The Benefits Of Doing Nothing
Not only is it ok to do nothing, it’s also beneficial to your physical and mental health.
Once you stop running around the hamster wheel, even for a short time, your brain will thank you.
You’ll be more creative. You’ll feel more rested.
Believe it or not, you’ll be MORE productive. If your brain is rested, it can handle more tasks properly, instead of being constantly drained.
You’ll be able to think more deeply and be able to concentrate better.
Most importantly, you’ll be happier.
No one can possibly enjoy the constant busyness that society has normalized. Everyone is afraid of what others will think of them if they’re not constantly on the go.
Stop worrying about what other people think and take care of yourself. You deserve time off. We all deserve rest.
Your health depends on it.
And your happiness does too.
